Magala out, Maharaj in

Cricket South Africa have confirmed that Keshav Maharaj has been cleared for selection in the ongoing T20I series against Australia, as well as the ODIs that follow. The spinner had suffered an Achilles heel injury and has subsequently recovered.

Sisanda Magala, however, has been diagnosed with "infrapatellar tendinopathy" on the left knee and has been ruled out of the second T20I.

Meanwhile, Wayne Parnell too has "developed a recurrence of a left shoulder injury," revealed CSA and is set to undergo scans to determine further action.

Struggling NSW announce host of appointments

Moises Henriques has been named as the NSW all-format captain for the summer. Additionally, Michael Bevan (batting) and Shane Watson (mentoring and mindset training) will be helping the state in the capacity of consultants.

NSW are trying to bounce back from a difficult summer, which saw them winless in the Sheffield Shield for the first time in 84 years and only the second time in their history.

NSW had already announced the appointment of Greg Shipperd as head coach, with Ali de Winter and Shawn Bradstreet as assistants. The selection panel also sees an overhaul, with Geoff Lawson and Stuart Clark joining Shipperd and CNSW Chief of Cricket Performance, Greg Mail and David Freedman.

"No one at Cricket NSW was happy with what happened last season and we have now taken steps to turn things around, with the aim to build consistent success," Lee Germon, Cricket NSW CEO, said. "All of these guys come with extremely accomplished resumes, and they have NSW cricket and the Blues in their DNA. That will bring a renewed edge to our structure and the playing group.

"The program is now being led by Greg Mail and Greg Shipperd and the playing squad, led by Moises (Henriques), have knuckled down in the off-season and are determined to challenge for titles.

"Now, by bringing in the collective experience and world class skills of Michael Bevan and Shane Watson, we have added to our off-field support structure.

"Geoff Lawson and Stuart Clark are synonymous with the NSW Blues and have always maintained a connection with the game. They 'bleed Blue', just like Greg Mail and David Freedman.

"It really is 'back to the future' for us this season and we are confident we are in a better position now than we were prior to these changes."
